A. Piggery

The piggery project continues but due to the spiralling inflation rate, high cost of and scarce availability of stock feed the number of pigs has been greatly reduced. To cut costs and overheads the pigs are fed on kitchen waste and vegetable scraps.

C. Gardening

The MRCH garden now provides vegetables to the established housing units in the complex, and to the child-headed and granny-headed households in the community. Some families are helped to become self-sufficient through selling vegetables from the garden. The home also sells most of its excess vegetable for income to the community. Thus the home generates some of its income from the sale of vegetables.

D. Tailoring

In addition to training institutionalized children on dress making skills, the project also takes care of the many less fortunate children from the Epworth community. The project is an accredited training college, hence the children who pass through it are given employable skills. Some are helped to set up their own income generating projects.

Additional funding will help with the purchase of training material, and so increase the number of beneficiaries and the quality of learning. It will also help with enable a good number of these children to set up and run self-sustaining projects.
